Spanish holidays and fiesta dates. All Spanish villages have different local fiestas and holidays and there are thousands of them, I am pretty sure you could drive from village to village for 365 days of the year and party the whole time. Spanish holidays are strictly observed and businesses will be fined for opening on some of the major holidays. The Spanish also observe Sunday as a day of rest and generally shut shop midday Saturday and re-open Monday, this unfortunately is changing slowly and more and more shops and businesses are staying open Sundays, especially in the ex pat areas, which in my opinion is a shame. Everything shut for a day and a half forces us to have some quality family time...Sadly lacking in the UK. Make a point to attend all your local fiestas, its a great way to meet the locals and integrate with the local community, you may as well attend as you probably will not get much sleep, they do tend to be very noisy and go on quite late!
